NAATI CCL Dialogue Insurance 05 – Tow Truck Arrangement

Scenario: A driver calls his car insurance company after running out of fuel on a rural road. The insurer arranges for a tow truck to transport the car to the nearest service station.

Insurance Rep: Hello, this is Allianz Roadside Assistance. Can you hear me?

Driver: Yes. I’m stranded on the side of the road—my fuel tank’s completely empty. I didn’t make it to the next service station. Can you help me out?

Insurance Rep: We can definitely help. Can you please tell me your current location and whether you’re in a safe spot off the road?

Driver: Yes, I’ve pulled over safely onto the shoulder. I’m about ten kilometres south of Exit 49 on the Valley Highway. There’s no fuel station nearby.

Insurance Rep: Thank you, that helps. Since your tank is empty and you’re not near a service station, we can send a tow truck to take your vehicle to the nearest one.

Driver: Great, thanks. Do you know how long it might take for the tow truck to arrive? I’ve got enough phone battery, but it’s a bit hot out here.

Insurance Rep: I’ll put in the request now. Based on your location, the truck should reach you in about 45 to 60 minutes. Is your hazard light on?

Driver: Yes, I turned it on right away. I’m also staying inside the car to keep safe. Will the driver call me when they’re close?

Insurance Rep: Yes, the driver will call when they’re ten minutes away. In the meantime, if you feel unsafe or need anything else, don’t hesitate to call us back.

Driver: Okay, sounds good. Just to confirm, the car will be towed to the nearest service station, right? I think that’s near Exit 51.

Insurance Rep:
Correct, the tow truck will take you to the closest fuel station. From there, you’ll be able to refuel and continue on your way.

Driver: Thanks, I really appreciate the quick help. I wasn’t expecting to run dry this far out, but now at least I know I’m not stuck forever.

Insurance Rep: You’re very welcome. It happens more often than you’d think. I’m glad we could help, and we’ll make sure you’re back on the road shortly.

Driver: Perfect. I’ll keep my phone close and wait for the call from the driver. Thanks again, you’ve made this a lot less stressful.

Insurance Rep: No problem at all. Take care and don’t hesitate to call if you need anything else while waiting. Help is on the way now.
